On February 17, 2000, Microsoft introduced Windows 2000, also known as Windows 2k. Although it wasn’t based on MS-DOS, it came out after Windows 98 SE and before Windows ME. Although Windows 2000’s user interface (UI) resembles that of Windows ME (Millennium Edition), the fundamental technology is different.
Win2000 has a neat, straightforward design. In reality, though, it was very simplistic and had dull iconography.
It was well known for being extremely secure. Banks, government agencies, and other organizations where security was a top concern employed it for this reason.
To be honest, the release of Win2000 was not enjoyable. Its graphics and user interface were really dull. Compared to Windows 98, the boot process took a long time. It was more stable, though.
Windows 2000’s official support terminated in 2010.
